From the air
So many people ask why I'm going back. Only those who have been can really know the answer, and even then, it is only "their answer." The majestic rise of strength and beauty from the floor of an ancient civilization's carpet is but a small portion of the swirling suction that pulls me away from family and friends and shoves me towards the high himal. I suppose part of the lure is connected to the vastness of the closely guarded secrets held by centuries of solid snow and ice layered across miles of mountains, and the other, the unguarded mysteries of the Sherpa people who have been able to maintain their culture, spirituality and happy demeanor despite the invasion of foreigners eager to bestow their formula for "a better life." And so, I leave my own beautiful sunrise on the Columbia to revisit the sunrise over the high Himalayas. Love to you all; my next post will be from Kathmandu on May 4th.
